Statement from the Minister of Health

Israeli Theft of Palestinian Body Parts

Israeli television has confirmed that Israeli officials stole human body parts from Palestinian martyrs and planted them in the bodies of wounded Israeli soldiers. In addition, Israeli television, Channel 2, reported that the head of the Forensic Medicine Institute Abu Kabeer produced a 57 minute video describing the method of extracting body parts from dead Palestinians. The extraction of bones, skin, and corneas from Palestinian martyrs without the consent of their families is unethical and illegal. The Israeli claim that these events occurred ten years ago and therefore, does not warrant review and discussion is unacceptable.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health is appalled by the Israeli government's despicable actions towards deceased Palestinians.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health is demanding that the Israeli government provide a formal response on this issue and initiate an investigation immediately.

Furthermore, the Palestinian Ministry of Health is calling on local and international humanitarian organizations to formally inquire into the details of these violations against the deceased Palestinians.
