Abstract Since the birth of the first IVF
baby Louise Brown in 25th July 1978, there
had been a great and major advances in the
field of ART. Many techniques had been
introduced into this field after the
original technique invented by Edwards and
Steptoe 1978. There has been tremendous
improvement in the methods of ovulation
induction and controlled ovarian
hyper-stimulation protocols. Different
micro-insemination techniques and mainly
intracytoplasrnic sperm injection (ICSi) has
revolutionized the treatment of male
infertility. Also different
rnicromanipulation maneuvers iike assissted
hatching and fragment removal are used in
many ART centers. Cryo-preservation of
sperms, testicular tissue, embryos are now
routinely used in most ART centers. The
technique of oocytes and ovarian tissue
freezing is still experimental .In vitro
maturation of the oocytes has been
introduced into clinical practice in many
ART center and its. result is promising.
Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is
going to have an important role in the ART
treatment cycles.
